A number of studies have suggested a direct relationship between cannabis use and periodontal disease. The following dental findings may indicate a chronic recreational cannabis user:

  • Xerostomia

  • Leukoplakia

  • Periodontitis

  • Gingival enlargement/hyperplasia

  • Alveolar bone loss.

Cannabis smoking is also associated with an increased risk of mouth and neck cancers.
